About
I’m Sander Knape, a Staff Platform Engineer at Stack Overflow. I work primarily on developer experience: helping engineers get from idea to impact faster, with less friction along the way. A lot of my current work sits at the intersection of platform engineering, AI, and engineering effectiveness.
Before that, I worked as a software engineer, cloud engineer, SRE, and tech lead. That background gave me experience across AWS, GCP, and Azure, but more importantly it taught me to care about the whole path from design to production. I like turning large, messy problems into smaller, more manageable ones, and I tend to approach engineering in a pragmatic way rather than chasing complexity for its own sake.
This blog is where I think through those ideas in public. I write about platform engineering, AI, developer experience, and the practical side of building systems and teams that can move quickly without losing clarity.
